The Religious Education program of the Church of Saint Pius X offers a dynamic and enriching faith formation for students in elementary and middle school who are members of our parish. The program offers eight years of study for students in public schools. Each year, the program consists of two semesters of classroom instruction with each grade focusing on one aspect of the Christian faith.

Our program reflects an integrated learning experience composed of Catechesis, prayer, sacramental preparation (First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation), traditional Catholic doctrine, Biblical studies, liturgy, community-building, community service and other dimensions of a vibrant Church life. The program is intended to complement the essential role of parents in nurturing their child’s Christian character in our Catholic faith.

All classes are held in person. Please see the general class schedule below and the calendar of events for holidays and Religious Education activities.

GENERAL CLASS SCHEDULE*:

Kindergarten classes: Sundays from 9:15 am to 10:15 am

Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 classes: Mondays from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Grades 1, 2, 3 and 4 classes: Tuesdays from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm

Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of our Religious Education program. Our dedicated volunteers serve as teachers, aides, hall monitors, and/or activity coordinators through the Religious Education Parent Teacher Association (REPTA). *Please note that the St. Pius X Religious Education Program follows the Scarsdale School District calendar and weather and emergency closings schedules.

If for any reason the Scarsdale Schools are closed due to inclement weather conditions, the Religious Education Program will close as well. If the Scarsdale schools have a delayed start, it will not affect our program. If all Scarsdale Schools cancel after-school activities due to weather or emergency closing, we will close automatically. Parents will receive an email notification of class cancellations. Please remember that it is always a parent’s choice to keep a child home due to bad weather.

When Scarsdale Schools are on Christmas/Winter, Mid-Winter, and Easter/Spring Break and are off because of holidays, Religious Education classes will not be held
