First Reconciliation and First Communion

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance) and First Eucharist (Communion) usually are received in the 2nd grade after completion of two years of study.

Each parent should nurture his/her child in the Catholic faith in preparation for these Sacraments by:

  • Attending Sunday Masses and ensuring that his/her child’s Mass attendance booklet is signed by the priest.
  • Participating in Masses to help his/her child prepare for these very special Sacraments
  • Attending the First Communion Blessing of Children and Gold Books at the 10:30 am Family Mass in September
  • Talking to his/her child about confession and the Eucharist
  • Reading bible stories and praying together
  • Participating in the Family Sacrament Day activities
