Adopt-A-Family

small-pics-adoptafamilyIn December, parishioners have an opportunity to adopt a family that does not have the financial ability to exchange Christmas gifts. The Pastors of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Manhattan, the Church of St. Joseph in New Rochelle and the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Port Chester identify the families in need.

Parishioners adopt a family alone or with other parishioners, purchase items on a list provided by the family (often clothing with sizes noted for the children and parents as well as one or two toys for children), wrap the items and deliver them to the School Lobby. Parishioners also donate a special meal (usually a canned ham along with the fixings and dessert). Volunteers deliver the items to the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Hell’s Kitchen on the West Side of Manhattan, the Church of St. Joseph in New Rochelle and the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Port Chester.

If you are interested in adopting a family, please contact the Parish Council: Tom Morris at 914-723-4979 (or morrist@us.ibm.com), or Aurelie Ferrera 914-490-6371 (or erriemandie@aol.com)
